Beverage Containers Only in Your Re-Express Bags!

Only deposit-bearing beverage containers are accepted at the Re-Express depot and can be placed inside Re-Express bags. We have visual aids available on our website’s “What Can I Recycle?” page: Download and print a copy. Keep it handy.

Re-Express does not accept food and household cleaning product jars, boxes and containers. Nor paper and cardboard. Put these items in your regular blue and clear garbage bags instead for pick up during garbage collection day. Check Southeast Eco360’s websiteto see which items can be placed in your blue bags. These are recycled at the Southeast Eco360 facility.

Encorp Atlantic Announces It Will Recycle Single-Use Plastic Bags in New Brunswick Redemption Centres

The movement to find a solution to the world’s plastic problem has made an important gain in New Brunswick.

Our team at Encorp Atlantic recently announced that it will collect and recycle plastic bags in redemption centres in communities across the province.  The policy is meant to reduce waste at redemption centres by recycling discarded plastic bags used by customers to bring their containers to redemption centres.

This includes, of course, Re-Express bags collected at the Re-Express depots.

The new policy, which came into effect during National Environment Week (June 2-8, 2019), will facilitate the recycling of approximately 4 million single-use plastic bags of all sorts per year in the province.

Read the news release for more details.

Happy 1st-Year Anniversary!

Re-Express is celebrating its 1st year anniversary this summer! Our team at Encorp Atlantic has learned a lot from this pilot project and is now working on the next generation beverage container drop off depot. This will allow us to also improve the Re-Express depot.

We thank all Re-Express members for their continued support and feedback. Our Re-Express depot in Moncton will remain at its current location for the foreseeable future and may see some adjustments. We are always happy to receive feedback from Re-Express members – if you have any comments to share, send us a message at info@re-express.ca or via our Facebook page.

We wish all Re-Express members a beautiful, enjoyable summer! Keep recycling!

Earth Day Event

Our team is proud to support and be part of the Go Beyond Earth Day event again this year.  Note the new date – the event has been pushed back this year to the weekend following Easter: Sunday, April 28, 2019.

Re-Express members are encouraged to attend the event to learn more about all the great environmental work and initiatives taking place in Greater Moncton.

Say hello to us in our kiosk! We will be there to sign up new participants for Re-Express as well as answer questions from current members. We will also be giving out free Re-Express bags, so show us your Re-Express member card to pick up a pack of bags!

New Bike Rack in Downtown Moncton

Encorp Atlantic - the team behind both the Re-Express and Re-Centre pilot projects – recently collaborated with La Bikery to produce a new statement bike rack which will be installed in Downtown Moncton right next to City Hall in anticipation of Earth Day.

Shaped like a car, the green-coloured bike rack not only draws your attention, but also makes an important statement about sustainable transportation and urban design – it accommodates a dozen bicycles in the same space one car would usually take up in a single parking space. The bike was designed with the help of Brian Branch (Branch Graphic Design). His design was brought to life by Metaltech.

This initiative is part of Encorp Atlantic’s community outreach efforts – creating public space for recycling and promoting recycling as well as other healthy habits to reduce our environmental footprint. Bike racks like these could be installed throughout the city and include recycling bins where passersby can drop recyclable containers and other materials.

Media and the public are invited to the unveiling ceremony on Friday, April 19, 2019 (11 a.m.), near Moncton City Hall (corner of Botsford and Main Street).

Re-Express Feedback Survey Results and Winners

In March, we sent out an online survey to all registered Re-Express participants.

We thank everyone who took the time to respond. The feedback provided is very important in helping us evaluate the effectiveness and ease of use of the Re-Express model.

Results from the survey have been compiled in charts and are available on the Re-Express website.

Congratulations to the following 5 individuals whose names were drawn at random among participants from the survey and who will be receiving their prize – a $50 Sobeys Gift Card – by mail:

  • Nicolas Rolland
  • Eric Drisdelle
  • Alicia Jones
  • Mathieu Leblanc
  • Michael Harrison

Reminder: Scan Your Bags

One of the most important steps to remember when visiting the Re-Express depot is to scan your card and then your bags. You must scan the tag (sticker) on every Re-Express bag you have with you, before placing each bag inside the depot. This ensures each bag is tracked in our computer system and that you can receive your payment. Once all your bags have been placed inside the depot, you can close the door to end the transaction.

Have a look at our instructional video which shows all the steps in sequence for dropping off your containers at the Re-Express depot.

There are also detailed instructions on our website.

Need help or have questions on how to use the depot? Our team is here to guide you. Please contact our office at info@re-express.ca or 1.506.389.7333 during regular business hours.

Important note on hours of operation and accessing money from your Re-Express account during the holidays.

We wish all Re-Express members a very festive and safe holiday season!

The Re-Express depot will remain open throughout the holiday season, including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years’ Eve and New Years Day from 7am to 10pm. You can thus drop off your empty beverage containers as per usual – from 7am to 10pm – throughout the holidays. You will also be able to log in to your Re-Express account to check your account balance, but there will be delays in container counts being updated in your account and for payment requests to be processed during this period.

Here are some important dates to keep in mind if you are hoping to access money in your Re-Express account during the holidays. All requests made after these dates will only be processed after Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Cheques: December 19, 2018
E-transfer and PayPal: December 23, 2018

A great option for getting money faster from your account is the Re-Station located inside our retail partner, Sobeys Vaughan Harvey. The Re-Station is accessible during Sobeys Vaughan Harvey store hours and you can withdraw cash from your Re-Express account instantly with this option! More info.

Please note that our office is closed from December 24, 2018, to January 1, 2019. All non-urgent emails sent to info@re-express.ca and phone enquiries via 506.389.7333 during this period will be responded to as of Wednesday, January 2, 2019.

Have You Dropped Off Your First Bag of Containers Yet?

If not, we encourage you to do so soon! You do not need to wait until you have accumulated a lot of bags. Re-Express makes recycling so quick and convenient that having just one bag filled with 40 containers is worth a visit to our depot!

Have a look at our instructional video, which shows just how easy it is to recycle your empty beverage containers with Re-Express.

There are also detailed instructions on our website.

Need help or have questions on how to use the depot? Our team is here to guide you. Please contact our office at info@re-express.ca or 1.506.389.7333 during regular business hours, or send us a message via Facebook.

Tips for Winter Recycling

  • Empty Your Containers
Leftover liquid often freezes in the bottles and cans during the winter months. Make sure your beverage containers are well emptied before you place them in a Re-Express bag.
  • Make Sure Your Bag Tag Is Firmly Attached
A bag tag must be attached to each Re-Express bag in order for us to credit your Re-Express account. It is important to ensure the area where you apply the sticker is clean and dry. This is especially important on cold winter days. If the tag is firmly attached, the adhesive can survive in temperatures as low as -50°C. However, this is only if the tag is firmly applied to a clean, dry surface. We thus recommend putting the stickers on your bags inside your home, before you head out to the Re-Express depot.
  • Snowstorms
We work hard to clear the snow and maintain access to the depot during snowstorms. However, we ask members to please be vigilant and not put themselves in danger by venturing out to the Re-Express depot in extreme weather.

Information on Deposit-Bearing Containers

Confused about beverage container deposit and refund fees? We recently launched new tools to help consumers better understand how the New Brunswick Beverage Containers Program works. Consumer handouts and signage are now available at redemption centres throughout the province listing all categories of deposit-bearing containers with applicable fees and refund rates.

This handy information – developed by our team at Encorp Atlantic - has also been added to the Re-Express website. You can download and print a copy to keep at home.

Re-Express in Full Swing! Refer Friends and Colleagues!

Re-Express is now in full swing! The Re-Express depot has been open since June 6 and we have reached 40% capacity when it comes to registrations of participants.

Thanks to everyone who helped spread the word and came out to our World Environment Day Celebration and Re-Express Grand Opening Event this past June! We are concentrating our efforts on recruiting participants for Re-Express over the summer months, so if you love recycling with Re-Express, don’t hesitate to refer friends and colleagues. They can sign up online at www.re-express.ca.

Re-Express and Re-Centre Are Separate Initiatives

Please note that while Re-Express has some similarities to another of our pilot projects named Re-Centre, Re-Express and Re-Centre are separate initiatives and each has their own set of participants. Please make sure that you use Re-Express bags and only visit the Re-Express depot located in the Sobeys Vaughan Harvey store parking lot (55 Vaughan Harvey Boulevard). Re-Express cards will not work at the Re-Centre depots.

Remember to Scan Your Bags!

If you have yet to make your first visit to the Re-Express depot, have a look at our instructional video, which shows just how easy it is to recycle your empty beverage containers with Re-Express. There are also detailed instructions on our website.

One of the most important steps to remember is to scan your bags! Scan the tag on each Re-Express bag so that it can be linked to your account and tracked in our computer system before placing it inside the depot. Once all your bags have been placed inside the depot, you can close the door to end the transaction.

Access Your Money

Your Re-Express online account is updated within 2 business days after each of your visits to the depot.

Use the username and password you provided when you signed up. If you forgot this information, click on these links:

If you need help, send us an email at info@re-express.ca or call us at 1.506.389.7333 during regular business hours.

Once you are signed in, you can transfer your money to your bank account or credit card via an Interac e-Transfer or PayPal. You can request a cheque or choose to donate funds to your favourite charity.

You can also view your account balance and choose to withdraw cash from your account by visiting the Re-Station in our retail partner store right next to the Re-Express depot, Sobeys Vaughan Harvey. The Re-Station will print a receipt, which you can show to a Sobeys Vaughan Harvey cashier to receive your cash or to redeem the amount for the purchase of groceries. (Please note that you will be asked to enter your Re-Express card PIN when using the Re-Station. If you do not remember your PIN, you can reset it online once you are logged in to your Re-Express account. It is one of the options in the menu on the right of your account interface. If you need help, please send us an email at info@re-express.ca or call us at 1.506.389.7333 during regular business hours.)

Festival Inspire

Encorp Atlantic - the team behind Re-Express – is proud to be a green sponsor and recycling partner of Festival Inspire (July 9-14, 2018). Look for our beverage container recycling bins at the events and make sure to drop your empty bottles and cans in them. By doing so, you will be keeping the event sites clean and beautiful and donating the money from the refund for your deposit-bearing containers to Festival Inspire who will recycle them with our help.
