Deposit-Bearing Beverage Containers

We credit your Re-Express account with $2 for each Re-Express bag.

Re-Express bags are designed to hold 40 New Brunswick deposit-bearing beverage containers.

Deposit-bearing means that you paid a deposit fee upon purchase on top of the price of the item.

Almost all New Brunswick deposit-bearing beverage containers give you a 5¢ refund when you return them to a redemption centre to be recycled. Some containers equal a 10 ¢ refund.

You can put fewer than 40 containers in your Re-Express bag, but keep in mind that there must be enough deposit-bearing beverage containers within the bag for a combined refund value of $2.

Other Containers

Only deposit-bearing beverage containers are accepted at the Re-Express depot. All other types of containers (non-deposit bearing beverage containers, food, household cleaning products, etc.) are recycled as part of Southeast Eco360′s recyclables and waste management program. Check Southeast Eco360′s website to see which container goes in which garbage bag.

To Sort or Not to Sort?

Please note that you don’t need to sort your empty beverage containers. Different types of beverage containers can be mixed in your Re-Express bags.

However, since refillable glass beer bottles are sent back to local breweries, we encourage you to keep empty beer bottles in their original cardboard cases and to place these cases inside your Re-Express bags.gs.
